‘American Idol’ fans on social media already picked their top two — Jamal Roberts and John Foster are winning hearts across the internet

American Idol is in its 23rd season, but it will eventually come to an end. All the while, fans are trying to figure out just who the finalist will be. Recently, fans have taken to social media to pick just who the top two Idol hopefuls could be.

Viewers Will Soon See ‘Ladie’s Night’ On American Idol

American Idol recently returned for Season 23 back in March. Viewers have seen contestants receive guidance from figures like Jelly Roll, Fantasia Barrino, Ashanti, and Josh Groban.

Recently, the season has cut down on the contestants to the Top 10. On May 4, viewers will be treated to a “Ladies Night,” with Miranda Lambert serving as a guest mentor.

However, fans are already anticipating which contestant will be the season’s winner. On social media, one fan recently noted that, “Based on Facebook likes… It looks like John and Jamal will be top 2.” However, they admitted, “Winner is probably still a toss up.”

Both contestants have already been making impressions on viewers. As previously reported, John Foster recently had to address misconceptions about him on social media, including his age and where he was from. However, fans had also shared reservations about him winning, as, while many fans liked him, he was still facing serious competition.

Meanwhile, Jamal Roberts has been a fan-favorite for quite some time. The Idol singer already had something of a fanbase from viewers who remembered his time on Sunday Best, a gospel-themed singing show.

Some Fans Still Have Hope For Other Contestants

That said, both John and Jamal have seen both critics and defenders come out on their behalf. On social media, in regards to John, one fan noted, “John is young and still developing, but rarely misses a note.”

“The second he opens his mouth he has country-fied my ears with a smooth George Straight Conway Twitty reminiscent sounding voice you don’t get these days in country radio. Even my wife, who does not like country, likes John to win and NOW wants to listen to more country.”

Other fans have been sharing their reactions to the idea of either John or Jamal being the winner. Some were surprised by the idea of one or the other being the natural winner. Others thought it would be a natural choice.

Of course, some fans shared a few other contestants they believe should be the winner. Some comments included:

“The john love is so shocking to me. i would have thought that slater would be the frontrunner in that lane.”

“People are caving old school country right now so that’s why [John’s] so popular he has the perfect image for country music.”

“I think that Gabby SHOULD win, but I will be happy with either John or Jamal winning!”

“John’s winning no matter what.”

“I normally like Jamal, but it was weird that people said he did good last week when he sang a song that showed nothing off at all. lol.”

“I’d be fine with anyone other than Breanna or Josh winning.”

“I don’t see how either of those would finish ahead of Slater. but we’ll see. John is probably almost as good as Slater… Really every singer in the contest can be compared to a cookie cutter type that is on every season, though.”

Have you been keeping up with American Idol? Who do you think has the best chance of winning?
