Sydnie, known for her powerful voice, lent her soaring vocals to “She Used to Be Mine,” the show-stopping, angsty ballad from the hit Broadway musical Waitress, in a live performance that left the audience stunned with its emotional depth and explosive high notes.

Watch her performance below.

Waitress, based on the beloved 2007 indie film, debuted on Broadway in 2015 with music by pop icon Sara Bareilles, who also starred as the lead character, Jenna, during parts of the show’s run. The musical’s heartfelt songs and poignant storytelling have earned it a devoted fan base around the world.

Christmas’s rendition has already drawn comparisons to some of the best versions of the song, capturing the raw emotion and vocal power that “She Used to Be Mine” demands. The song portrays a deeply personal moment for Jenna, a small-town pie-maker trapped in an abusive marriage, as she reflects on how far her life has strayed from the dreams she once had. The ballad is both heartbreaking and hopeful, as Jenna resolves to make a change for her unborn child.

Fans are calling Sydnie’s performance “breathtaking,” with many praising her ability to hit the song’s demanding high notes while delivering its emotional core. Once you’ve experienced it, you’ll understand why it’s being described as unforgettable.
