Kelly Clarkson returned for the second year in a row to host NBC’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center special, looking so festive in a killer outfit for the two-hour special.
The “Love So Soft” singer, 42, looked absolutely stunning in a black coat for the Wednesday, December 4, telecast, which culminated in the lighting of the iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.
Once again, the Grammy winner pulled double duty as both host and performer, while she was joined by fellow musical acts the Backstreet Boys, Dan + Shay and Little Big Town.
Kelly had a wide variety of songs to choose from, with two Christmas albums under her belt. She released Wrapped in Red in 2013, followed by 2021’s When Christmas Comes Around.
In 2023, Kelly showed off her incredible weight loss in a fitted white belted coat with a furry collar. At the time, the daytime talk show host had fans abuzz at how much weight she’d lost over the course of the year.
The Emmy winner chalked up her new figure to a healthier diet and walking in a January interview.
“I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn’t. And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat — sorry, vegetarians in the world!” she said
Kelly also credited her talk show’s move from Los Angeles to New York City for season 5. “Walking in the city is quite the workout,” she said about the easy way to burn calories. Other health changes she made included getting “really into infrared saunas,” while trying out a cold plunge.
However, Kelly was plagued by rumors that she lost the weight with the help of the type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic.
The “Stronger” singer revealed for the first time that she used a weight loss drug for her body transformation during the May 13 episode of her daytime talk show, while denying it was Ozempic.
Guest Whoopi Goldberg discussed her recent weight loss from using “that wonderful shot that works for folks that need some help.” The View host previously revealed that her weight loss was thanks to the type 2 diabetes drug Mounjaro.
Kelly replied, “My doctor chased me for, like, two years and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems.’ I was afraid. Everyone thinks it’s Ozempic. It’s not. It’s something else. But it’s something that aids in breaking down the sugar. Obviously, my body doesn’t do it right.”
The revelation upset some fans who felt misled by Kelly’s previous statements about how she lost weight.
“I’m not mad that Kelly Clarkson lost weight. Not mad that she took a weight loss drug. I’m mad that she made other women feel inadequate and like failures when ‘walking more and eating meat’ didn’t work for them,” one person wrote on X.
Another let-down fan added, “I love Kelly Clarkson, but we all knew it was medication, no one can lose that amount of weight on walking + gummies yet by sticking to the story, many women believed they too could emulate the results with zero chance of success. Just tell the truth. So disappointed in her.”
