In August, he sailed through the quarterfinals with a performance of Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,” earning enough fan votes to advance to the semifinals, which start Wednesday.

Although the show typically airs at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, the semifinals will begin at 8 p.m. Sept. 11 because of Tuesday night’s presidential debate. The live results show will air Thursday night at 8 p.m.
