Music has always been a profound passion for Richard Goodall, but he never imagined that a simple TikTok video of him singing for his students would reach millions.
“She came up with the kindergarten teachers and told me it hit 100,000 views. I asked if that was good, and she said she didn’t even have 1,000 followers,” Goodall shared. “By the end of that weekend, it was at a million.”

This unexpected viral success led to an audition for America’s Got Talent in Los Angeles. Goodall describes the entire experience as surreal.
“It’s like a blur to me,” he recalled. “I remember bits and pieces of it, and I was there living it, but when it airs on Tuesday night, it’ll be the first time I see it too. They’ve never sent me any clips, so I have no idea what they’ll show.”
“He’s representing Terre Haute on a nationally televised program, bringing recognition to our city,” Tanner said. “It’s a tremendous honor, and everyone here should be proud of Richard for being such a positive representative of Terre Haute.”
Tanner added that no one deserves this opportunity more than Goodall.
“He’s destined to be a star as he performs on America’s Got Talent,” Tanner said. “It’s a humbling experience for him, I think. He’s just such a great person to be around.”
