Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer is won by Sydnie Christmas on BGT 2024.

The normal Kentish girl with the attractive, daring personality of a Catherine Tate Show character, Sydnie Christmas, competed on Britain’s Got Talent 2024. Her conversation with celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli before her performance showed that she had a vibrant personality full of humor and a desire to pursue a future as a professional singer in London’s West End.

The judges were taken aback when 28-year-old Sydnie auditioned for BGT’s 17th season, claiming that she hadn’t sang her audition song since she was four years old. The selection of this song made Simon’s face flush red. The judges and audience were on the brink of their seats when Amanda disclosed that he had a lifelong aversion to the song “Tomorrow” from the 1980s musical Annie. But hidden beneath Sydnie’s vivacious exterior was a unique, deep voice that was filled with astonishment and dramatic climaxes.

She started her song softly but enchantingly, bringing her family to tears in the crowd almost immediately, before unleashing an incredible display of control and force. She drew inspiration from her jazzy piano track to create a unique performance that updated the original from the 1980s while capturing the genuine, emotional beauty of musical theater. Simon Cowell turned to his fellow judges with a shocked smile on his face; Alesha appeared enthralled; and Amanda was head over heels for her. Her voice was flawless.

Following the fading of Sydie’s last note, the enormous audience, including Alesha, Amanda, and Bruno, rose to their feet in a standing ovation. Simon, who was known to dislike the song, astonished even himself by getting up to cheer. He went so far as to say to the distraught singer, “I used to despise that song, and now I absolutely love it,” following her performance. That was a wonderful move on your part.

All four judges gave Sydnie Christmas rave reviews, and Amanda was so enthralled that she gave her the Golden Buzzer and advanced her to the live performances.

While waiting for her big break on the West End, Sydnie, who was born in Kent but now resides in London, has worked a number of jobs to make ends meet. While releasing original music and cover versions on YouTube, she has worked as a cleaner, a performer on cruise ships, and a fitness center employee. With over 2 million views in only two days after being published to YouTube, her audition for a world-class stage singing gig looks like it’s just around the corner. An extraordinary vocalist who will undoubtedly reach the show’s finals and beyond has accomplished this remarkable feat.
