They Laughed When She Came on Stage, but When She Sang ‘Damn Your Eyes,’ Everyone Wanted More

Irina Brovkina left the audience of X Factor 7 in awe with her rendition of “Damn Your Eyes.” At 55, Irina’s journey to the stage was filled with determination and support from her family, especially her husband who encouraged her to audition. Despite only practicing vocals for four years, Irina’s performance was captivating, silencing any initial doubts.

Early Struggles and Triumphs

Irina admitted that the most challenging part of her X Factor experience was the filming of her profile video. “For me, the most difficult thing was the pipe,” she said, referring to the part where profiles of participants are filmed. Afraid of heights, she struggled with the shoot conducted at the level of a two-story house. “I stood clutching the floor and couldn’t move. Then I took off my heels and was able to move.”

Post-X Factor Plans

After her departure from the show, Irina is focused on continuing her musical journey. Fans can look forward to her performances during the New Year holidays. “Very soon I will be performing on St. Sophia Square during the New Year holidays. Come to the ‘Christmas Tree’ and we will definitely meet there,” she shared.

Reflections and Future Aspirations

Reflecting on her time on X Factor, Irina expressed satisfaction with her journey. “I was expecting my departure, it was not a surprise. I completely agree with the opinion of the judges. After leaving the project, I fulfilled my goal. People heard jazz. If anyone liked it, then I’ve already done my job. I am happy,” Irina said.

Although jazz is her favorite genre, Irina also has a deep appreciation for chanson, enjoying artists like Mikhail Shufutinsky and Bruno Mars. For those new to jazz, she recommends starting with legends such as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday.

Irina’s story is an inspiring testament to pursuing one’s passions at any age.
