Living as a major star, being recognised wherever you go, and being held to absurd standards on a daily basis can’t be simple.
One mistake, one round of negative press, and a celebrity’s reputation could be permanently tarnished. Even the most likeable performers, athletes, entertainers, and singers occasionally have their reputations tarnished.
Simply put, there isn’t much someone can do to guarantee that their reputation always stays spotless because, even when they haven’t done anything to harm it, there will always be those who will try to disparage and make fun of them.
We can all agree that Jennifer Garner is one of the rare celebrities who has established such a prestigious name for herself.
The 51-year-old actress gained notoriety for her leading performances in films like Daredevil, 13 Going on 30, Elektra, and Pearl Harbour, but she has also made a name for herself as a kind and kind person.
Garner is a mother of three and a gifted actress who has won the hearts of Americans throughout time. She and her ex-husband Ben Affleck share son Samuel Affleck and daughters Seraphina and Violet Affleck.
But underneath Garner’s sweet, girl-next-door appearance, the actress may just have a side that few people are aware of. The actress discussed her issues with her image in an interview she gave earlier this year.
“The problem with, ‘Oh, she’s so nice’ is that when I have any kind of boundary, people think of it as much more than it actually is. The problem is being recognized on a day where I’m not so nice or when I have blackness in my soul,” Garner said.
“I’ve definitely had days where I just can’t do it. I scowl at people before they can walk up to me. I’m not perfect, and I don’t think I’m rude, but I’m not good at being fake. I’m an open book of a person.”
Even still, the majority of fans will probably agree when you ask them if Garner is amiable and approachable. Despite her global fame and an estimated net worth of close to $80 million, the actress from The Last Thing He Told Me has repeatedly shown over the years that she is approachable.
That’s why it surprised me so much that when Garner was photographed running over the weekend in her Los Angeles neighbourhood of Brentwood, people seized the chance to criticise her.
The 51-year-old reportedly wore no makeup and had her hair pulled up in a basic bun.
Garner has demonstrated in the past that she supports normalising female body image and eschewing a culture in which maintaining a “perfect” appearance is so valued.
Nevertheless, some people online couldn’t resist the opportunity to insult her.
One individual on Facebook said: “She looks like a platypus, always has.”
Another added: Another single mother! She looks… 60 years old grandma!”
A third wrote: “Old plastic granny.”
“Morphing into a Man?” a fourth stated.
I don’t know about you, but I find Jennifer Garner to be really attractive, and I don’t think she should be criticised for going out without makeup!
