First of all you need to immerse the orchid (with the vase) in a basin with water. Leave it for 15 minutes and then pull it away. This procedure will serve to make the plant absorb all the water it needs. In the case of long journeys and summer holidays, it is advisable to leave the plant to soak for about an hour.

At this point, let’s see the 3 nurserymen’s tricks for taking care of and watering orchids in the summer and making them bloom again quickly without fertilizers

In summer the orchid will need a rather high humidity level. However, the water should never overwet the roots. Therefore, it is advisable to add expanded clay to the soil. This way the habitat will remain moist without damaging the roots.

Furthermore, it must be remembered that the plant should be watered once a week and in case of strong heat and sultriness, it is advisable to water it twice a week. Warning, never use cold water to water the orchids because it could cause a thermal shock which is harmful to the stem, the leaves and the flowers. Better to water with water at room temperature.

Finally, egg shells are a real marvel. Heat a liter of water and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, grind the eggshells. Turn off the heat, dip the eggshells and leave overnight. Then, filter the water and pour it into a container. Water the soil once a week. This mixture would bring a good dose of calcium, potassium and protein to the plant.
