What to Know About Sydnie Christmas
Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas has revealed her unexpected next step—going back to school, even after winning the £250,000 prize.
The 29-year-old singer walked away with the jackpot after triumphing in the ITV talent competition last year. Her euphoric version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow made her the first female solo artist to claim the crown—at least, the first without a dog by her side. This victory earned her a spot on the Royal Variety Performance, where she shared the stage with Eurovision winner Nemo and Murder on the Dancefloor singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Before finding fame, Sydnie worked at a gym in central London. After her BGT audition—where she secured a golden buzzer with her rendition of Tomorrow from Annie—she returned to her day job. But as her journey on the show progressed, she eventually left the gym behind. Well… sort of.
Speaking to The Sun, she shared, “I actually stayed on the rota because I didn’t know how life was going to kick off… Then they said to me, ‘Sydnie, I’m going to have to fire you, but we’re very happy to do it.’”
Now, she’s planning to finish her Level Three personal trainer qualification. “It’s good to have something, just in case,” she told The Mirror.
